TIPS FOR BASS FISHING FROM A KAYAK
As you might now, we don’t just sell cars here at Moritz Chevrolet. We also participate in many local community events, including fishing events!
That’s why we’re not just a good source of car facts. We can also help if you need fishing tips, like if you’re bass fishing from a kayak!
Fishing from a Kayak
If you’ve never fished from a kayak before, there are a few things to keep in mind. The kayak is sturdier than it seems, so just relax. Loosen up the lower half of your body and cast in nice easy lobs. This allows your lure to land softly and won’t rock the boat too much.
A big advantage of the kayak is that it can get into some harder to reach spots, like small ponds and backwater areas, where larger boats can’t really tread. These areas are often full of vegetation, like grass and lily pads, which is sure to attract some trophy largemouth bass.
Bass Fishing Tips
We mentioned that largemouth bass like vegetation. If you’re looking for smallmouth bass, look for “structure.” Rocks and logs give them the cover they need to ambush their prey.
The location is important, but so is your choice of bait. Spinnerbaits and crankbaits are tried and true, but topwater frogs are another great option. Just be aware that bass can strike topwater lures at any point in the retrieve, even when it’s just a few feet away from the kayak! So be ready.
